Staff training can be expensive and yet many major businesses and organisations spend relatively small amounts per head of staff on the training that makes a difference to their core activities.  The training undertaken makes staff more effective and more efficient. 

A few years ago the National Audit Office came out with the wonderful statistic that if all the workers in the National Workforce annually became just 1% more efficient then it would be worth more than £40Billion to the national economy every year.  Small amounts of well selected training can produce significant improvements!

Most Small Business owner/managers are too busy keeping their businesses going to invest the time that on occassions is required to organise the training their workforce needs beyond that which is absolutely required for the business. 

Since April 2010 companies / organisations employing more than 250 staff are required, by legislation, to formally consider applications for training made by their staff.  The Government have recently announced that they are continuing to review the need to implement this legislation for all employees - it was due this April.
